Izu Persimmon Tree: Savor the Orchard-Fresh Flavor

About the Fruit

The Izu Persimmon is a delightful fruit that tantalizes the taste buds with its sweet, honey-like flavor. This non-astringent variety can be enjoyed even when firm, making it a versatile addition to your fruit bowl. The rich, orange flesh is creamy and bursting with a sugary taste that’s unmatched by other fruits. Perfect for snacking, baking, or creating gourmet dishes, the Izu Persimmon is a must-have for any fruit connoisseur.

What to Know About the Tree

The Izu Persimmon tree is a stunning addition to any garden, known for its easy-going nature. This deciduous tree showcases lush green foliage that transitions to vibrant autumn colors before the leaves fall. It’s a particularly attractive tree when the branches are adorned with bright orange fruits after the leaves have dropped. Reaching a height of up to 8-10 feet, the Izu Persimmon tree is an ideal size for most gardens, and is hardy and relatively pest-free, making it a joy for gardeners.

Harvest Season

The harvest season for the Izu Persimmon begins in the early fall and extends through the winter. This timing means you can enjoy fresh, delicious persimmons right from your tree when most other fruit trees have long finished their season. It’s truly a gift to have such a delectable fruit ready for picking during the holiday months.

Enhancing Your Fruitscape™

Imagine a fruitscape™ where the Izu Persimmon tree stands proud, its branches laden with glowing orbs of fruit against the fall sky. Its ability to provide seasonal color and a bountiful harvest makes it an exceptional choice for gardeners looking to combine form with function. Integrating the Izu Persimmon into your fruitscape™ adds not only visual interest but also a delightful harvest that bridges the gap between the abundance of summer and the scarcity of winter.

Fruitscaping™ with Persimmon Trees

Embark on a unique Fruitscaping™ journey with our exquisite selection of Persimmon Trees. We offer both astringent and non-astringent varieties to cater to diverse taste preferences. While astringent persimmons are known for their high tannin content, making them best enjoyed when fully ripe, non-astringent persimmons can be savored crisp, like an apple, without the mouth-puckering sensation.

Persimmon trees are nature’s multi-taskers, adding visual allure, shade, and succulent fruits to your organic garden. They are remarkably resistant to diseases and pests, making them a low-maintenance yet high-reward addition to your Fruitscaping™ endeavors.

Persimmons thrive in well-drained, sandy or loamy soil and prefer slightly acidic conditions. They flourish under full sun exposure, needing at least six hours of sunlight daily to yield a rich crop.

In the Fruitscaping™ design, persimmon trees offer striking ornamental value. Their lush foliage in summer and vibrant, orange-yellow fall colors create a spectacular display. Moreover, the bright orange fruits hanging on the tree after leaf drop offer a unique, decorative touch throughout the winter.

Persimmon trees also prove a fantastic choice for different gardening styles. Whether you choose to shape them into a magnificent espalier or let them grow naturally, they contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of your garden.

Immerse yourself in the rewarding journey of Fruitscaping™ with our Persimmon Trees. From planting and caring to harvesting and enjoying the sweet, honey-like flavor of your homegrown persimmons, each step is filled with delightful experiences. With our astringent and non-astringent varieties, discover the pleasure of growing and savoring your own persimmons.

Shipping Information

Before Your Plants Arrive: You can find many guides on unpacking, planting, & care, on our growing guides page.

The Journey From Our Nursery to Your Door:  We NEVER ship our plants bare root. Your plant will travel in the very container in which it was nurtured. We thoroughly prune and water them before packing, and make sure they’re well wrapped to retain moisture during transit. It’s as though you’ve personally collected them from our nursery!

Choose Your Ship Date: We understand you’ll want to be available when your plant arrives. Our checkout process features a handy calendar that allows you to choose the Monday on which you want your plant to ship. Depending on your location, you’ll likely receive your plant by Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of that week. Once shipped, UPS will generate a tracking number and send it to the email you provided. You can then follow your plant’s journey and ensure someone is available to unpack it on arrival day.
