Thai Ginger Lily – More Spicy than Other Ginger Roots!
Thai ginger lily is alpina galanga, this species differs from the commonly found ginger Zingiber officinale in the grocery store. Unlike common ginger is has a delightful spicy-hot flavor. Commonly used in Asian dishes, cakes and breads. In Asia, where this variety grows wild, both the pungent spicy roots and the tender young shoots are harvested. The roots can be harvested year round. Thai ginger is a beautiful low-growing lily, that thrives in rich, well-drained, moist shady areas. Makes an excellent container plant. Zones 8B-10.
