Tavares Limequat Tree – Citrus japonica ‘Margarita’ Citrus aurantiifolia
This third type of limequat was, like it’s cousins, named after a town in Florida. Unlike the Eustis limequat tree and Lakeland limequat tree, the Tavares limequat tree doesn’t have a weeping form. Tavares limequat is believed to be a cross between a West Indian lime and an oval kumquat. It has a thicker rind and a little more of a lime bite to the flavor. Ever bearing trees in mild winter areas. Self fertile. Zones 8B-10.
