Southern Queen – She’s a Beauty!
While the true origin of this south Mississippi pear is unknown, Southern Queen is a delicious, large, bell shaped pear. When fully ripe the flesh is a creamy yellow and mellow with an excellent texture. The skin is a striking russet to bronze brown. The variety is very resistant to fire blight as the 60 year old mother tree has never had fire blight. Ripens mid August through September. Pollinate with BALDWIN, CARNES, FLORDAHOME, HOOD, PINEAPPLE or SUG. 300-350 chill hours. Zone 8A-9A.
