Sherbet Berry – New Exotic Fruit!
(Grewia asiatica) Sherbet Berry is native to Southern Asia from Pakistan to Cambodia where it is known as Phalsa or Falsa. Sherbet Berry has a 1/2 to 5/8 inch round fruits that are purple to black when ripe. Fruit ripens over an extended time. Pleasantly sweet/sour with a grape sherbet-like flavor. It makes an excellent thirst quenching juice that has a cooling effect. It’s also very nutritious with lots of Vitamin C, Calcium, Phosphorus, Potassium, fiber and loaded with antioxidants. Easy to grow will tolerate light frosts and is drought tolerant. Good container plants for northern areas. Grows to 6-15 foot. Ripens August through September. Zones 8b-11.
