Rio Red Grapefruit Tree – Citrus paradisi ‘Rio Red’
Rio Red grapefruit trees bear medium-large nearly seedless fruit. It is another of the deep pink family related to Ruby Red grapefruit, originating from Texas in 1984. Increasing in popularity, Rio Red grapefruit is sweeter than Ruby Red grapefruit. Excellent for juicing or eating fresh. The round fruit have an overall reddish tinge on the outside, and the inside has a halo of light around the dark inside when viewed in cross-section, beautiful! Tree is hardy and vigorous. Fruit ripens December to May. Self-fertile. Zones 8B-10.
