Ponkan Tangerine Tree – Citrus reticulata ‘
One of the oldest and most popular mandarin tangerines, due to it’s rich sweet flavor. Thought to have originated in India, the Ponkan tangerine tree is distinctive for its oblate shape fruit, often having a short “collar” or neck. The sweet, tender, juicy flesh is pleasantly aromatic and has a rich, bright orange color. It is by far our best flavored tangerine. Fruit contains few seeds. Ripening early it’s a good choice for short season areas. November to January. Self fertile. Zones 8B-10.
