Loquat Tree – Tastes Like Apricots!
Loquats are probably one of the most outstanding edible landscaping trees. The leathery broad-leaved trees lend a tropical feel to the garden. Fragrant white flowers bloom throughout fall and the trees are gorgeous when in fruit with the clusters of bright yellow fruit covering the plant. Tangy sweet apricot- flavored fruit. The fruit can be used in any dish that you would use peaches in. Our favorites is smoothies. So easy, just pop out the seeds and throw a handful of fruit into the blender, wiz until pulp is a fine texture, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and thin with pineapple juice. It is soooo good! These are seedling trees and will begin bearing in 6 to 8 years. Self fertile so you only need one tree to get fruit. Zones 8B-10.
