Flanders Fig Tree: Feast on the Heritage of Flavors

About the Fruit

The Flanders Fig Tree produces fruit that is a symphony of sweetness and texture. These figs, with their deep purple skin and striking red flesh, offer a succulent bite that is rich and jammy. Perfect for fresh snacking, divine in desserts, and excellent when transformed into preserves, the Flanders Fig is a gourmet delight that embodies the essence of summer’s end.

What to Know About the Tree

The Flanders Fig Tree is a stunning sight throughout the seasons. During the warmer months, its large, lobed leaves provide a tropical feel, and as a deciduous tree, it shows a different kind of beauty when it goes dormant, revealing an elegant branch structure. This tree is not only a picturesque addition to any garden but also robust, withstanding various climates and thriving with minimal care.

Harvest Season

Anticipation peaks in late summer to early fall when the Flanders Fig reaches perfect ripeness. It is a time of abundance, as the tree generously offers its fruits, which hang like jewels amid the foliage. The harvest season brings a sense of reward and celebration, as the air carries the sweet fragrance of figs ready to be plucked and savored.

Fruitscaping™ with Fig Trees

Embrace the joy of Fruitscaping™ with our Fig Trees. Among the simplest and most rewarding fruiting plants to grow, figs are an excellent addition to any organic garden. Their inherent disease resistance and few pest issues can be managed easily without the need for harsh chemicals, ensuring a bountiful, eco-friendly harvest.

Our Fig trees exhibit a diverse palette of flavors, textures, and ripening seasons. Some varieties possess thin skins with succulent centers evoking the flavor of rich maple syrup – a delight when savored fresh from the tree. Other varieties offer a naturally sweet texture, perfect for drying or turning into delectable preserves.

With their compact growth habit, fig trees are perfect for integrating into the shrubbery border, adding an attractive contrast with their broad, deeply lobed leaves. Consider pairing these distinctive trees with the elegant pomegranate and the fine-textured blueberry bushes for a stunning visual mix. Complement this arrangement with a lush undergrowth of strawberries, creating a cycle of blooming flowers, ripening fruit, and vibrant fall colors.

The young fig tree’s smooth, flexible trunk lends itself to creative gardening techniques. Train it into an espalier for a living wall, or twist it into a striking specimen tree. If you’re dealing with limited space, lay the trunk flat against the ground, and watch as the vertical shoots transform into a natural, green hedge.

Fig trees are also well-suited to container gardening. The root restriction of a pot often encourages the tree to produce even more prolific crops. So, if you’re an urban gardener or short on garden space, our fig trees will prove a perfect fit.

Embrace the ease and joy of Fruitscaping™ with Fig Trees. Enjoy the journey from planting and care to the sweet reward of your homegrown figs.

Shipping Information

Before Your Plants Arrive: You can find many guides on unpacking, planting, & care, on our growing guides page.

The Journey From Our Nursery to Your Door:  We NEVER ship our plants bare root. Your plant will travel in the very container in which it was nurtured. We thoroughly prune and water them before packing, and make sure they’re well wrapped to retain moisture during transit. It’s as though you’ve personally collected them from our nursery!

Choose Your Ship Date: We understand you’ll want to be available when your plant arrives. Our checkout process features a handy calendar that allows you to choose the Monday on which you want your plant to ship. Depending on your location, you’ll likely receive your plant by Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of that week. Once shipped, UPS will generate a tracking number and send it to the email you provided. You can then follow your plant’s journey and ensure someone is available to unpack it on arrival day.
