Ambersweet Orange Tree – As Cold Hardy as Satsuma!
Ambersweet orange tree is a Mandarin x Sweet Orange hybrid. It is one of the most cold hardy sweet oranges we have, surviving cold weather to the same degree as the satsuma tangerine tree. This is a good fresh eating or juice orange that ripens early and has a nice balance of sweet tart flavor. If you want fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast, this is the one for you! This variety has run into bad press on it lack of fruiting, but we have found it to be well worth growing in colder climates, due to it’s cold hardiness and reliable bearing. Less subject to alternate bearing, we find we have fruit every year on this variety. Ripens October to January. Self fertile. Zones 8A-10
